The Lab Chemist Intern will work as part of a lab team in Tomball, TX. The primary goal is to a
correlation between properties of crude oil (process fluid/hydrocarbon),
characterization/chemistry of foulant material, and antifoulant chemicals / catalysts for various
hydrocarbon/refinery and petrochemical production and processing fouling control applications. This involves testing a variety of antifoulant chemicals and catalysts by using a variety of batch and continuous lab simulation test methods.

This is a full-time, 12 week internship, with an anticipated start date in May 2025.


Essential Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to developing / improving high-throughput antifoulant testing methods
  • Validate methods using control samples
  • Screen a variety of antifoulant chemicals and catalysts by using a variety of batch and continuous lab simulation test methods under different test conditions and varied dosage level
  • Develop a quantitative property-performance correlation
  • Document and write formal methods
  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate degree program with a focus in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biochemistry or equivalent with 2-3 years of college chemistry lab experience
  • Familiarity with basic wet chemistry and analytical techniques
  • Ability to work independently in a lab environment with other team members
  • Self-motivated and a team player
  • Demonstrated dedication to lab safety
  • Effective problem-solving skills
  • An accomplished communicator, able to produce quality technical reports and documents
