Pay Rate: $28.84 to $31.25 per hour.

Position Purpose: 

This position will perform field service orders as needed, collect water samples, install, reads, maintains and test customer service meters. This position assists with field maintenance and repairs of mains and service lines as needed. Performs paperwork as needed. Treatment Operations. Flushing.

Primary Duties/Responsibilities: 

  • Responsible for performing turn on and/or off, setting, reading, removing, repairing, testing and/or replacing residential water meters and recording data.
  • Investigating billing complaints in the field by confirming readings and checking for leaks or main breaks.
  • Monitoring cross-connection control and/or locating service lines. 
  • Tagging doors for termination of service to delinquent customer accounts.
  • Performing routine valve box maintenance, ensuring lids are present, valves are operational, and valve boxes are cleaned out.
  • Respond to customer inquiries.
  • Assist with T&D Operations as needed, setting up job sites with required signage and traffic cones, traffic control, water main repairs, and assisting Contractor with any other required work as needed.
  • Perform treatment operations, flushing hydrants, and heavy lifting may be required.
  • Rotating weekday and weekend on call required.
  • Ability to work overtime.
  • Sample collection
  • And any other duties that may be required/requested by management.
  • Performs mark-outs for underground digging and locates.
  • Assists with all other field activities, as needed, such as new main and service line installations, repairs to mains and service lines and building construction and maintenance.
  • Performs pumping facility checks, when needed, including entering data, replenishing chemical tanks, etc.
  • Assist Manager with the installation of SCADA and control equipment at newly acquired systems.
  • Work with Manager and laboratory to remain compliant with yearly sampling program.
  • Work with Manager on the design of pumping and treatment equipment.

Work Environment:

  • Must have the ability to perform field services at all times of the year even during inclement weather.
  • Must be able to respond to emergencies within 45 minutes when on call.

Education/Experience/Background: 

  • High School Diploma/GED is required.
  • Minimum of 2 years in the water utility business preferred.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: 

  • Must have excellent customer relation skills
  • Must have the ability to write accurately and possess good communication skills. 
  • Must have basic computer skills or ability to learn google based programs.
  • Must be highly organized and possess the ability to work well under pressure.
  • Ability to work independently
  • Basic understanding of water distribution systems

Required Certification/Licenses/Training: 

  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Must possess a 2B, C, D water operator license, or have the ability to obtain required water licenses within a reasonable length of time.
