Position Purpose:
O&M Technician II is responsible for performing various general labor activities that include the operation & maintenance of various equipment at different facilities. Must have the ability to operate air compressor and pneumatic equipment. Ensures mechanical readiness of plant equipment and processes through the proper development and implementation of maintenance procedures.
Primary Duties/Responsibilities:
- Performs regular checks of equipment conditions, noting deficiencies and following maintenance procedures.
- Notifies supervisor of needed maintenance.
- Other duties as needed and as assigned
- Carries out the position responsibilities in accordance with OSHA and company safety policies and procedures.
- Communicate effectively written and oral methods with co-workers, supervisor, managers, and others when necessary.
Work Environment:
- Must be able to work in all weather conditions.
- Must be able to work in confined spaces.
Education/Experience/Background:
- High School Diploma/GED is required.
- 1-3 years of Vocational education in related field preferred.
- A combination of education and on-the-job skills in the right environment may be considered or equivalent experience related to water/wastewater operation and maintenance or related fields.
- 1-5 years maintenance experience, with increasing responsibility, in a water and/or wastewater treatment industry.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Ability to operate heavy equipment, boom truck, operates power equipment, compressor, and electric generators.
- Thorough knowledge of water and wastewater treatment facilities and operations.
- Good working knowledge of basic hand and power tools.
- Must have detailed knowledge and understanding of hazardous material handling, storage and usage.
Required Certification/Licenses/Training:
- Must have valid Mississippi driver’s license (CDL preferred).
Physical Requirements:
- Physical requirements include frequent walking, standing, bending, stooping, and squatting, crawling, sitting, occasional lifting of up to 50lbs.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear.
- The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; climb stairs or ladders; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and taste or smell.
- The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include ability to distinguish color, close vision and distance vision.
