Context
As part of Veolia Near and Middle East BU, Veolia Oman is a strategic and dynamic country with an ambitious long term plan, which has been growing continuously and very fastly over the past five years.
Operating a large and various scope of desalination plants, engineered landfills and sewage treatment plants, Veolia Oman is providing services to both governmental and industrial clients.
Veolia Oman is now employing more than 700 people, strongly involved in each Veolia business segment (water, wastewater, decarbonation, solid waste, industrial services...), who are playing a pivotal role in the implementation of the regional “Green Up” group strategy.
Main Accountabilities
As part of the Oman Veolia team for water leak detection, the Non-Revenue Water Engineer/Manager is responsible for developing and implementing strategies to reduce water losses in the distribution system. This includes identifying, analysing, and mitigating both physical and commercial losses to improve the overall efficiency and performance of the water utility.
Detailed Job Description
- Assessment and Analysis:
- Conduct comprehensive assessments of the water distribution system to identify areas of water loss.
- Analyse data related to water production, consumption, and losses to identify trends and areas for improvement.
- Strategy Development:
- Develop and implement NRW reduction strategies and action plans.
- Collaborate with operations and maintenance teams to execute NRW reduction projects.
- Leak Detection and Repair:
- Implement and oversee leak detection programs using advanced technologies and methodologies.
- Coordinate with field teams to ensure timely and effective repair of identified leaks.
- Monitoring and Reporting:
- Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) for NRW reduction and regularly report on progress.
- Prepare detailed reports and presentations on NRW initiatives and outcomes for management and clients.
- Team Leadership and Development:
- Lead and mentor project team members, fostering a collaborative and results-oriented work environment.
- Provide training and support to staff on NRW management practices and technologies.
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Science, Water Resources Management, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in water utility management, focusing on non-revenue water reduction.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, water audit methodologies, attention to detail and experience with data analysis and GIS tools.
- Knowledge of water distribution systems, leak detection technologies, and metering solutions.
- Excellent communication and project management skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and external partners.
- Certification in water management or related fields.
- Experience with advanced NRW management software and technologies.
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements and industry standards related to water utilities.
