Job Description
Position Purpose:
Installs and repairs all electrical work throughout the treatment distribution system. Performs electrical work to maintain, install, repair or alter electrical systems found in treatment and pumping facilities, including electrical construction, installation, maintenance, and repair.
Primary Duties/Responsibilities:
- Troubleshoot malfunctioning equipment to determine the nature of the problem, repair small and large electrical appliances, repair electronic components of electrical equipment as required for continued operations, make emergency electrical repairs to generators and pumps, and perform related duties as required; and perform related duties as assigned.
- Perform electrical work to maintain, install or repair all electrical systems, facilities and pump stations. Repair or replace defective or worn electrical parts, components and controlling software in electrical systems and devices, electrical motors, generators, pumps, controllers, lighting systems, and other fixtures and equipment.
- Work independently and make sound decisions regarding work methods and tools; read, interpret, apply, and enforce applicable codes and standards as related to electrical installation; apply State, Federal, and local safety regulations and codes to electrical work.
- Work safely both independently and as a crew member on high voltages up to 600 volts AC; work safely near energized primary and secondary lines with voltages up to 600 Volts AC.
- Read and works from electrical blueprints and drawings.
- Comprehend and make inferences from written material; read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, and work orders.
- Perform preventative maintenance on electrical systems, motors and equipment. Inspect newly installed electrical equipment and lighting to ensure safe operation as well as code compliance.
- Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, and associated costs.
- Perform associated work including digging, trenching, occasional concrete finishing and removal, and lifting electrical equipment, conduit and pipe.
- Replaces defective wiring.
- Control wiring experience required.
- Variable Frequency Drive experience recommended.
Work Environment:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is routinely exposed to a variety of outside weather conditions, including very hot temperatures.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
- This employee can work in high voltages up to 600 Volts AC.
Qualifications
Education/Experience/Background:
- High School Diploma/GED is required.
- 5 years journey level electrical experience required.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Knowledge of methods, materials, tools, equipment, and procedures used in the installation, maintenance, repair, replacement and alteration of electrical equipment; components and parts used in modern electrical wiring systems such as pumps, motors, controls and lighting.
- Basic understanding of overhead line construction, Nation Electric Code and Federal and State OSHA standards.
- Read, interpret and enforce applicable State and Federal codes and requirements.
- Ability to communicate with all levels including team, management, clients, and vendors in a professional manner both orally and in writing.
- Safety procedures in electrical maintenance and operations.
- The employee must be able to operate electric motors fueled by gasoline, diesel, or gaseous fuels, paint, welding, and fabrication equipment, and other hand tools required.
Required Certification/Licenses/Training:
- Valid industrial electrician’s license preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, climb stairs or ladders, sit, use hands to finger, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and taste or smell.
- The employee may regularly lift 10-20 pounds and may occasionally lift and or move up to 50 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include the ability to distinguish color, close vision and distance vision.
