Position Purpose: 

The purpose of this position is to provide opportunity for development of Water Treatment Plant Operators and/or Maintenance Technicians.

Primary Duties/Responsibilities:

Train in all duties related to a Water Treatment Plant Operator and Maintenance Technician. Duties will include but not be limited to:

  • Conduct routine water testing and recording test results.
  • Ensuring quality of treated water meets federal and local regulations and company standards.
  • Monitoring all charts, gauges, and other operating equipment at treatment plant(s) or within the distribution system, utilizing SCADA.
  • Preparing and submitting routine state and regulatory reports for review.
  • Calculating the chemical feed rate required, calibrating feed equipment, and adjusting feed rate per lab tests or supervisor’s instructions.
  • Calibrating instruments, taking chemical deliveries, and general site maintenance.
  • The employee will be required to work shifts as assigned with appropriate notice, including nights and weekends.
  • The employee in this position will progress to fill the next vacancy as an operator or relief operator so long as they meet the minimum requirements or if they don't meet the minimum requirements, it will be at the sole discretion of the company as to whether they are assigned to fill the vacant position.

Education/Experience/Background: 

  • High School Diploma/GED is required.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: 

  • Excellent organizational skills related to project management and record keeping.
  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations and basic knowledge of water treatment methods, water chemistry and tests, federal, state, and local drinking water regulations and company standards, and water collection systems.
  • Basic mechanical skills.

Required Certification/Licenses/Training: 

  • Valid driver’s license is required.
  • Appropriate operator’s license or water certificate and sub-classifications are not required for application, but desirable.
  • May be required to test for and pass a PA Operator’s A exam in the future, unless already attained
