Job Summary
The Operational Leader for the Analytical Instruments products is responsible for the overall day-to-day operations and project leadership of the Analytical Instruments (AI) production and distribution facilities and Quality Control ISO 9001, 17034 and 17025 globally. This includes managing and optimizing the flow of goods and information from suppliers to customers. This role is responsible for overseeing the entire supply chain process and quality control and compliance (EHS), including oversight of procurement, production, planning and inventory management, logistics and distribution. The Analytical
Instruments production facilities are composed of approximately 100 employees across three site locations (Boulder, CO; Tatabanya, Hungary; WuXi, China and Singapore).
Reporting operationally to the Analytical Instrument Business Leader, and functionally to the NAM Supply Chain Leader, the candidate will provide direction to the overall operations, plan work activities and resources necessary for AI products in accordance with Environmental Health & Safety (EHS), cost, quality, and quantity specifications and look to further advance the lean manufacturing and automation initiatives.
Essential Functions/Responsibilities
- Develop and implement supply chain strategies aligned with the organization’s goals and objectives to drive efficiency, and cost-effectiveness across all operational areas.
- Manage and optimize operational processes including supply chain, quality control, oversight of procurement, production, quality control, planning and inventory management, logistics and distribution utilizing KPIs and the company strategic plan. Role oversees PMO process.
- Provide leadership to supply chain and procurement organizations consisting of forecasting, planning and scheduling, quality control, inventory management and control, logistics and warehousing, instrument and consumables manufacturing, manufacturing engineering, EHS, and facilities.
- Develop clear organizational direction and measurements against key performance indicators to drive improvement across the global AI sites.
- Build a high-performing team based on delegation of responsibility and empowering them with the necessary resources to complete their assignments, being accessible to team member needs, and developing their skills in a collaborative environment .
- Oversee development of production plans and schedules that optimize manufacturing resources while at the same time provide the fastest possible response to customer demands.
- Ability to recognize opportunities, coordinate, make decisions and manage to completion, in a multi-functional environment.
- Demonstrated success identifying, leading and completing complicated restructuring activities and investment in support of business objectives.
- Generate effective mechanisms of monitoring, reviewing and reporting on progress against objectives at all levels.
- Support an environment of team based continuous improvement, encouraging innovation and problem-solving.
- Identify potential risks and develop contingency plans to mitigate disruptions in the supply chain, such as natural disasters, supplier bankruptcies, or geopolitical issues.
- Develop budgets and approve expenditures for capital, supplies, materials, and human
- resources, ensuring that all resources are used efficiently to meet production targets.
- Drive improvements to reduce costs and shorten cycles using Six Sigma and Lean Principles.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Demonstrated leadership and communication skills with the ability to perform in a matrix driven environment, across functions, with suppliers, revenue sharing partners and clients.
- Proven experience in a senior operational leadership role, preferably in a regulated manufacturing environment
- Strong customer focus and understanding of relevant laws, industry standards, and regulations such as ISO and FDA preferred.
- Strong analytical, statistical, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret data and make informed decisions.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments and within a global organization.
- Six Sigma certified, preferably Master Black Belt.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Operations Management or equivalent.
- At least 10 years’ of experience in an operations leadership position, including experience leading automation projects and manufacturing of new products/technologies.
- Global experience in a manufacturing environment.

- Compensation - The salary range is tied to the market for similarly benchmarked roles. The range is not an absolute, but a guide, and offers will be based on the individual candidate’s knowledge, skills, experience, and market conditions, as well as internal peer equity. Depending upon all the preceding considerations for the final selected individual candidate, the offer may be lower or higher than the stated range: $178,000 - $200,000 annually.
