Shift charge engineer

Job Description

The role of the shift charge engineer is to organize, coordinate and supervise operations of the plant during shifts to ensure safe, efficient, and cost-effective operations and effective resolution of technical problems.

Leadership tasks :

  • Leadership / Coaching / Development of the team.  Live a positive management culture and drive employee engagement. Own responsibility for direct reports. Lead, coach and develop team as well as reach out to other functional teams with leadership and experience. 

Functional / Operational tasks:

The shift charge engineer is responsible to perform the below tasks but not limited to,

  • Responsible for shift team members

  • Work request and work order issuing and LOTO applying 

  • P.T.W follow-up

  • Plant status update to Senior shift charge engineer/Operation manager 

  • Coordination with other discipline responsible

  • Monitoring of static & rotary equipment

  • Co-ordination with control room operator and local operators 

  • Follow up on control room operator tasks

  • Reporting on shift activities

  • Monitoring process abnormalities

  • Coordination with chemical coordinator 

  • Equipment isolation for maintenance LOTO / other approved activities

  • Verify, monitoring and maintenance of shift activities and reporting logbook, 

  • Close coordination with Plant manager

  • Responsible for production optimization

  • Plant modification and optimizations proposal

  • Chemicals consumption optimization

  • Training operation employees

  • Plant routine inspection

  • Prepare operation procedure/instruction

  • Close coordination with Client 

  • Attend internal and external meeting

  • Troubleshooting, scale up, analysis, process optimization, and problem-solving during plant abnormal conditions. 

  • Coordination with other discipline responsible

Qualifications

Education: 

  • Bachelor's, Master's, or Engineering degree in a relevant field of study, e.g., industrial maintenance, electromechanics, water chemistry, process engineering, etc.

  • Additional training or specific certifications in [e.g., electrical certification, water treatment] would be a strength.

Professional Experience : 

  • Breadth/depth of experience required 

  • Experience working with similar systems in a similar business environment

  • 5 years of experience in a similar role (shift or production manager), ideally in an industrial, production, or water, waste, or petrochemical treatment environment.

  • Proven experience working with similar systems and equipment (e.g., pumps, valves, control panels, SCADA systems, processing units) in a comparable business environment.

  • Demonstrated ability to follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and adhere to safety protocols.
