Job Description

Position Purpose:

Lead & direct personnel in a territory of Industrial Water/Power projects attaining safe, reliable, profitable operations with satisfied customers.

Primary Duties/Responsibilities:

General

  • Responsible for daily operations management of a group of three to six FBS area projects with site PM being direct reports. Annual Revenue $3-8M / EBITDA $500K to $1.5M.
  • Responsible for preparation of annual budgets for Ops Director review.
  • Responsible for projects P&L reporting, variance explanations and performance forecasting.
  • Responsible for client/customer management at all responsible projects.
  • Solicits Customer input to gain an intimate understanding of customer needs, problems and systems in order to provide a complete solution, to improve levels of satisfaction, and implement corrective actions and to evaluate and develop new business opportunities.
  • Interprets Contract to Define Deliverables.
  • Conducts operations meetings, assign tasks, set deadlines and tracks progress. Ensures that information is compiled in an efficient and accurate manner to ensure that customer requirements and deadlines are met.
  • Maintain sufficient on-site presence to efficiently fulfill all responsibilities.
  • Position approx. 50% travel.

Business Development / Proposal Management

  • Participates in territory business development activities which include collecting and disseminating intelligence regarding opportunities.
  • Participates in new business and scope increase due diligence.
  • Prepares OPEX models, identifies staffing level, participates in bid reviews.
  • Participates in proposal development.
  • Assembles project start-up/mobilization team.
  • Participates in post-mortem analysis Technical.
  • Monitors daily process data to ensure contractual and environmental compliance is maintained.
  • Serves as front line technical resource in application of technological, operational or engineering changes that will improve project reliability, regulatory compliance or lower costs.
  • Works with the LLC Technical Support group to ensure that QA/QC monitoring and record keeping are performed at each project. Negotiations / Client Relations.
  • Participates in negotiations of renewals, contract and agreements, including CBAs.
  • Identifies and secures scope changes.
  • Secures favorable renewal margins.
  • Represents company and performs client relations including presentation of progress and special reports, participating in client meetings and conducting client service audit interviews.
  • Professionally handles and resolves client service problems, contract interpretation, and modification and/or renewal activities.

Procurement

  • Leverages District Resources to Maximize Purchasing Power.
  • Second level DOA for operations expenses.
  • Ensures compliance with legal requirements and company policy.
  • Identifies and justifies capital expenditures using the CAR process.

Financial

  • Monitors region financial performance including compliance to cost center budget, personnel utilization, pricing, customer invoicing and collections.
  • Monitors and addresses all aged receivables to ensure appropriate collection actions.
  • Identifies opportunities for improvement and counsels the team when corrections or improvements are needed. Prepares monthly reports in a timely manner.
  • Prepares Annual Budgets for LLC Review.
  • Ensures that Area Meets or Exceeds Plan.
  • Controls or Forecasts Monthly Budget Variances.
  • Ensures Timely Collection of Receivables Labor Relations / Human Resources.
  • Provides a work environment that ensures fair and equal treatment of employees. Review project performance in accordance with company procedures. Promotes morale, and provides staff with an atmosphere of open communication, innovation, and job growth.
  • Participates in labor relations activities including, labor contract negotiations and ongoing labor issues and grievances as required. Ensures that labor agreements within the district are consistently administered.

Safety & Environmental Compliance

  • Oversees district safety programs to ensure adherence to company policies and OSHA and state regulations. Actively promotes strong safety programs throughout the district.
  • Promotes and Models Safety Culture.
  • Ensures Plant Compliance and adherence to OSHA, State and Veolia Safety and Environmental Programs.
  • Provides training to plant and project managers on technical and business related topics to improve project performance. Conducts meetings with client regulatory officials for project stability and compliance.

Work Environment:

  • Spends 40% of time in an office environment and 60% at projects.
  • Occasional exposure to plant and field environments.
  • Makes visits to existing and potential customer facilities.
  • Frequent travel.
  • Possible Work Hazards: May be exposed to possible hazards including high noise, heavy machinery, chemicals and temperature extremes when visiting customer or supplier facilities. Exposed to possible travel hazards.

Qualifications

Education/Experience/Background:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering or a related field or equivalent environmental experience.
  • At least four years of progressive supervisory and management experience in a related business or technical field.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Demonstrated leadership ability with an understanding of Human Resources / Relations principles.
  • Knowledge of Safety, Environmental and Facilities/ Capital Equipment Management.
  • Developed strategic and business planning and financial management skills including budget and cost control.
  • Successful record with contract negotiations, multi-site interfaces, commercial management of contracts and sustained customer and regulatory satisfaction.
  • Demonstrated skills in problem solving and solutions, team building (motivating all levels of personnel), technical writing and total quality management.
  • Strong PC skills with proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet and database software and the ability to optimize the use of technology and systems to streamline processes and increase efficiency.
  • A proven track record of successfully delivering excellent customer satisfaction.
  • Must be effective in building partnerships and relationships with customers and be able to modify communication and presentation style in order to relate to a variety of people and personalities.
  • Must demonstrate excellent communication skills: written, verbal, listening and presentation and show the ability to recognize and handle sensitive communications internally and with all levels of customers and suppliers.
  • Must be outgoing, self-directed, goal oriented and creative to be able to identify and maximize opportunities.
  • Demonstrates effective organizational and project management skills with attention to detail.
  • Must demonstrate a high degree of initiative, judgment and resourcefulness with the ability to find creative solutions and options to multi-faceted and/or time sensitive problems, to deal with numerous and changing priorities and to proactively address issues relating to personnel, capital, margin enhancement, facilities, processes and profitability of assigned area.
  • Demonstrates commitment to compliance with applicable laws and regulations, the Company’s Code of Business Conduct and other Company policies and procedures.

Physical Requirements:

  • Spends 60% of time sitting, 20% walking, and 20% standing.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.
  • The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
