Job Description

Veolia Industry Building - Switzerland AG is looking for a VIE/PANGEO - QHSE / HSE Compliance (M/W) in Basel, Switzerland.

THE MISSION

Join a leading international organization and directly contribute to the harmonization of QHSE practices and legal compliance on a global scale. You'll work alongside the QHSE Manager in a stimulating industrial environment where you can:

✅ Start with legal compliance management: maintenance and development of the legal register, identification of new Swiss regulatory requirements, follow-up of corrective actions

✅ Progress toward expanded responsibilities: incident management, environmental compliance, major accident prevention, QHSE data management, KPI reporting, internal audits

✅ Develop recognized expertise in Swiss law and regulations, while contributing to the exchange of QHSE best practices across the international group

 

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain and develop the legal register (Red-On-Line) and identify new regulatory requirements

  • Support the assessment and implementation of QHSE requirements

  • Participate in incident management: documentation, data analysis, corrective action follow-up

  • Manage environmental compliance and reporting data (thermal and river parameters)

  • Prepare and maintain QHSE documentation (procedures, instructions, checklists)

  • Develop QHSE data management tools and Smartsheet dashboards

  • Collect, analyze and report QHSE KPIs (monthly, quarterly, and customer-specific reports)

  • Participate in internal audits, inspections, and continuous improvement initiatives

  • Conduct research on HSE, environmental and regulatory topics

Progressively, you'll gain autonomy and take responsibility for clearly defined QHSE areas.

Qualifications

THE IDEAL PROFILE

Education:

  • University or engineering school degree recently obtained (or in final stages) in:

    • Environmental Sciences

    • Chemistry / Chemical Engineering

    • Engineering / Industrial Engineering

    • Safety / HSE

    • Or comparable technical/scientific discipline

Experience:

  • Initial practical experience through internships, university projects or previous roles in QHSE, HSE, regulatory compliance or industrial operations (advantageous, not mandatory)

Key Skills:

  • Excellent analytical and organizational abilities

  • Proficiency in MS Office (particularly Excel)

  • Interest in digital tools and data management (Smartsheet or similar: a plus)

  • Attention to detail, reliability, proactivity and excellent communication

  • Team spirit and ability to collaborate across departments

Languages:

  • German: minimum B2 level (written and spoken)

  • English: minimum C1 level (written and spoken)

  • French

Additional Information

PRACTICAL INFORMATION

  • Duration: 18 months

  • Start date: January 1, 2027

  • Location: Basel, Switzerland (Badenstrasse 40, Bau 930, Porte 91, 4057 Basel)

  • Contract type: VIE (International Volunteer in Business) – French nationality required

  • Remuneration : 3463.17 € net/month (according to the rates of October 2026)

  • Accommodation : yes

  • coverage of part of the housing costs

  • Benefits : 30 days' leave per 12 months / Tax-free / French pension contribution
